Snippets from my Week

Hello Lovelies,
Thank you all so much for your lovely chatty comments on my previous "snippets" post. Even after four years of blogging I still wonder what makes an interesting read. I was surprised to get so many comments on that odd little mish-mash of moments, but I loved reading all your kind words and advice.

Once again I have random photos to share so here are this weeks snippets.

On Wednesday I spotted this tapestry wool in the charity shop. I LOVED the colours and I've seen other clever creative types crocheting with this stuff......so it came home with me...........

Here it is all laid out.............

Forty skeins for £4 ........I'm not sure what I'll make with it yet :0)

 More garden posies..............

There was so much to choose from this week.........I LOVED picking a few of the first pinks to add to my display.............

They come up year after year and take no looking after...plus they last ages in a vase......wonderful.

When I was doing my weekly shop I picked up these Dahlias to pop in the gaps in my cut flower bed.........

I'm not sure if they will be suitable for cutting, but at least they will look pretty....as long a the snails don't eat them!

Sunny snooker. This old snooker table lives in the shed , until it's a warm sunny summers day , then hubby gets it out, plonks it on the picnic bench, and challenges the boys to a tournament...............

A new bedroom poster.

Youngest has had a HUGE poster of the world on his bedroom wall for a few years now. It's been great to look at and discuss where countries are etc, but it kept falling down and was starting to get torn. Last week I sent for something different..............

I think I buy these as much for my interest as for my boys......did you know one day on Venus is 243 days long?

Poppies in the early morning sun.
A quick photo in the car park at work before heading inside on a glorious morning...............

I love the way such delicate looking flowers manage to grow in surprise places.

Posting my mandala to Lucy.....in a rather large envelope...........

Yesterday I headed out with two of my boys to go to the post office and stopped opposite the allotments to take the photo above.

Just as were were about to go I spotted a chap coming from his allotment with lots of yummy looking strawberries. I just said how good they looked and he gave me a punnet.....I did offer to pay him for them but he insisted on giving them to me......I was really touched......such a kind gesture from a stranger.............

If there are red smudges on the back of my package when you receive it Lucy, you know where they came from.

I passed on the good will by giving both of my boys money to donate to the kind people collecting for the RNLI  outside the post office and the shop..............

I hope you all have a happy Sunday Lovelies.

It was lovely for the chap to give you the strawberries and so then you went on and proved the saying: "what goes around comes around"! You received then gave - such a lovely attitude to have! Your blooms are lovely and yes, dahlias do make lovely cut flowers so something else to look forward to! Happy week to you, xoJoy

  8. Your snippets from this week are lovely Jacquie, how kind of the stranger to share his strawberries with you, that really is the sort of lovely unexpected gesture that can make you smile for days afterwards isn't it. Your skeins of tapestry wool were a great buy! They will make lovely little projects I am sure - what about a whole array of flowers for something! Hope that your week is a good one. xx

  11. That wool was a great find at that price. I've been wanting to try crocheting with it but I think it's a little pricey. What a lovely gesture from the man at the allotment, paying it forward is wonderful too.

  13. I love snippety posts as it gives a real insight into bloggers' lives. How lovely of the allotment owner to give you the strawberries. I guess he grows them for the joy of it & equally enjoys giving the produce away if he has too much - I know tht enjoy giving away our rhubarb & crab apples when we have far more than we need.

  15. What a bargain those tapestry wool skeins were! They'd make a lovely scarf - I remember seeing something on Ravelry made out of tapestry wool crocheted into different sized grannies.

  16. Allotment folk can be pretty nice! I love the flowers, you have reminded me that we used to have lots of pinks in the garden when I was little and I would pick bunches of them for my grandmothers. The dahlias should do well, and they'll be good for picking too I expect. Watch out for earwigs though! I love the haul of tapestry wool, what a good find. It's useful to have smaller amounts of lots of different colours. I hope you have a good week Jacquie. CJ xx

  20. You could use the small yarn bits to make flowers and then glue them on sticks or green wire! :)

    Take care

  22. A good score of the wool, and the free fresh strawberries! If you lived on Venus, and said; "I've had a long day"...it would be an under statement! ;D

  23. I knitted a shawl from tapestry wool and I love it; I acquired mine through a friend. I've still got a lot left over and I'm still undecided what to make with it but I will crochet the next item :-) I will look forward to seeing what you do with yours Jacquie :-)

  24. Dear Jacquie,

I love your post. As soon as I saw your treasures all lined up, the first thing that came to mind was Mandalas! Wouldn't it be great to make all those beautiful colors in mandalas?

    Best wishes,

    Aunt Bea

  26. I use tapestry wool to knit and crochet with, then I felt it, perfect for felting with but it does shrink to something quite small! I made a contemporary rucksack with tapestry wool once and felted it, and sold it!
